Do the PowerSheets work? 100% yes.
You may have seen the PowerSheets goal planners around the web getting a lot of hype. Before I started using them, I was skeptical.
I’m about to go into my 5th year using the PowerSheets. Taking a look back at all the previous years, I’m honestly surprised about the results.
Here’s what I learned:
Yes, the PowerSheets work when you are intentional about using them and patient about reaching your goals.
Proof that the goal-planner works
I decided I’d try out the PowerSheets in 2019. Looking back on 2019, 2020, 2021, and 3 quarters of 2022, I accomplished many of the goals I set for myself. Many things that are habit and routine are the results of setting those goals.
Here’s what I accomplished these past 5 years …
In 2019:
- Paid off our vehicles
- Consistently planned my days
- Created a family yearbook
- Daily prayer time
- Said goodbye to my corporate job
In 2020:
- Started our homeschool
- Meal planned monthly
- Set a morning prayer routine
- Launched my first digital course
- Got outside daily
- Went on a family vacation
- Kept a 1-sentence journal
In 2021:
- Studied the Bible with my husband
- Learned to care for our rose garden
- Got interviewed on podcasts
- Organized our family photos
- Went on a family vacation
- Finished our first homeschool year
- Started our second homeschool year
In 2022
- Purchased our first practice
- Pray a family Rosary every Sunday
- Continued Bible study
- Went to Italy
- Started Morning Time in our homeschool
- Started our third homeschool year
I’ve never really taken the time to create a list of what I’ve accomplished until now. I’ve done a lot more than I realized!
How I make the PowerSheets work
I may not complete every single page or section of the PowerSheets but I do fill out my Tending List every month. The Tending List is the guide I use to decide what to focus on each week. (You can learn how I use my day planner and the PowerSheets together in this post.)
Like my day planner, I keep my Tending List visible on my desk as a constant reminder of what my goals are. If I closed my PowerSheets, I’d never use them, I’d only admire the cover. (This is why I don’t care about planner covers …I keep them open all the time so I never see the covers!)
I used to hesitate to “mess up” the pages of my planners. Now I know that planners are meant to get messy. I don’t have perfect handwriting and I cross out and relabel sections.
Going through the pages of the PowerSheets helps me to organize my thoughts and narrow down what to work on. They help me to break out my goals each month, giving me direction on how to plan my days.
Even though I don’t completely fill in the progress bars on my Tending Lists, I’m making more progress on my goals than I realize. There’s a saying they use at Cultivate What Matters that goes, “Little by little.”
And they’re right!
The PowerSheets do work. I’ve used them these past 5 years and accomplished a lot.
